Beat the Microbead

The campaign was initiated by the Plastic Soup Foundation in 2012 to bring on the map the issue of microbead pollution through personal care products. Since the start of this campaign, it tries to educate people about the problem and brainstorm steps that can be taken to Beat the Microbead!

The Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI)

RSPO

COSING

The European Commission database for information on cosmetic substances and ingredients. The EU’s involvement mainly concerns the regulatory framework for market access, international trade relations and regulatory convergence. These all aim to ensure the highest level of consumer safety while promoting the innovation and the competitiveness of this sector.

Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety

The Committee provides opinions on health and safety risks (chemical, biological, mechanical and other physical risks) of non-food consumer products (e.g. cosmetic products and their ingredients, toys, textiles, clothing, personal care and household products) and services (e.g. tattooing, artificial sun tanning).

U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Effective March 31, 2019, FDA began operational implementation of an agency reorganization. FDA’s reorganization reflects the agency’s commitment to modernizing its structure to advance its mission to protect and promote public health and to meet the challenges of rapid innovation across the industries regulated by the FDA. The FDA regulates which skin care products are FDA approved and if skin care products are safe to use for U.S. Citizens.

International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI)

The INCI system was established in the early 70s by the Personal Care Products Council. INCI names are used in the United States, the European Union, China, Japan and many other countries to list ingredients on cosmetic product labels. With few exceptions, the INCI labelling names in all countries are the same. This helps to ensure the safety and quality. However, the ingredient list can still be a burden for the consumer. At the moment, we have over 27,000 ingredients in our database, which is the most comprehensive listing of ingredients used in cosmetic and personal care products. Our team works diligently on each and every INCI to give you transparency about the source, effects and additional information about environmental concerns and harmful ingredients. Our vision is to offer absolute ingredient transparency so you can make more informed decisions.
